Metro Manila – House and lots were given away to attendees during the celebration of the 121st Labor Day with the theme “Pabahay, Bilihing Abot-Presyo, Benepisyo ng Matatag na Trabaho Para sa Manggagawang Pilipino’‘ in the eve of Labor Day on 30 April 2023 at the SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City. In coordination with the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) five (5) houses and lots were awarded to lucky winning participants by President Ferdinand “BongBong” R. Marcos, Jr.

Spearheaded by its Officer-in-Charge Teresita Audea, the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) participated in the event and served as the Chairperson of the Safety and Security Committee and marshals to ensure the smooth conduct of activities.
With an estimate of 902 participating employers and 82,000 job vacancies in various industries, the DOLE conducted a series of activities including job fairs, livelihood and business fairs, distribution of government assistance, and promotion of different capacity development programs for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
President Marcos, Jr., graced the activity to provide support in the nationwide Labor Day celebration. He assured the public of the opportunities to be provided by his administration to workers and their families to uplift their living and social conditions. “Our labor force is essential to the sustenance of our soaring economy and in laying the groundwork for our important industries. That is why we strive to address the cares and concerns of our workers as well as provide them with better opportunities so that they are capacitated to their full potential as active participants in nation-building,” Marcos Jr. said in his message.

Also present at the event is DOLE Labor Chief Bienvenido “Benny” Laguesma. He extended his words of appreciation to all Filipino workers who worked diligently for their families. In his message, Secretary Laguesma highlighted their significant role in helping the nation recover from the scars inflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic. “Binibigyang-pugay natin ang kanilang mga inihandog na sakripisyo, kasabay ng ating pagbubunyi sa ipinamalas nilang kakayahan at likas na talino, kadalubhasaan at etika sa trabaho na nagpapalakas ng ating sama-samang pagkilos upang makabangon ang ating ekonomiya tungo sa isang Matatag, Maginhawa at Panatag na buhay para sa bawat manggagawa at pamilyang Pilipino”, Secretary Laguesma said.
In partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Agriculture (DA), 150 sellers showcased their products in the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa, where agricultural commodities such as, but not limited to, fruits, vegetables, and rice, were offered in a lower price.
Meanwhile, the Board’s regional branches also participated in the commemoration of the nationwide event and attended similar activities and job fairs across the nation to promote the flagship programs of the Board.
