NCMB INFORMATION OFFICERS ATTEND TECHNICAL WRITING SEMINAR
Labor Information Officers (LIOs) of the National Conciliation and Mediation Board attended a four day technical writing seminar and workshop on May 22-25, 2018 at the B Hotel in Quezon City to enhance the skills of LIOs in practical writing necessary to convey complex subjects to a wide range of audience.
The seminar focused on news gathering and writing where in the participants applied a practical framework that encapsulates facts clearly, coherently, concisely, and in an engaging manner to lure in the audience.
Through this seminar, the LIOs were provided with a greater understanding of the needs of the audience.
Participants were able to apply the topics discussed through a series of workshops and critiquing sessions on the construction and flow of the content of their output.
Resource speakers tapped for the training were Lyceum of the Philippines Associate Professor Renalyn Valdez, Media Consultant Julius Anthony Segovia, and English Instructor Melody Al-Amrey of the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde.
Aside from news gathering and writing, the seminar-workshop included the development of a communication plan for effective strategic information dissemination.
The Seminar workshop on enhanced technical writing is a capacity building initiative of the Research and Information Division of the National Conciliation and Mediation Board to enhance the capabilities and skills of Labor Information Officers of the Board.
