Metro Manila – As part of the continuing promotion of work-life balance to its employees, the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) took the next step by adding egames to the list of events played in its 2023 NCMB Sportsfest.

Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB), a multiplayer online battle arena where the game pits two teams of five against each other in real time, was played in the inaugural NCMB esports tournament. At first, it was purely a demonstration sport but the Board decided to provide prize money to encourage employee’s participation.

The tension between the two teams was palpable right at the beginning. The game unfolded across five intense rounds, with both teams unleashing their full arsenal in a captivating tug-of-war like spectacle. In the end, Team A outlasted Team B, clinching the victory in a nail-biting 3-2 scoreline.

During the announcing of winners in the 4th Quarter General Assembly of the Central Office employees held on December 20, 2023, Executive Director Maria Teresita Lacsamana-Cancio congratulated those who participated in the competition and expressed her gratitude to the Sports Committee for bringing the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the employees.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and participants who made the sportsfest an occasion to remember. As we end this event, may we always carry the spirit of comradeship and importance of perseverance in our lives,” said ED Cancio.

The NCMB Sportsfest ran from April to December which successfully culminated last December 19, 2023. The employees engaged in friendly competitions in a number of sports such as chess, volleyball, table tennis, darts and scrabble.

The sportsfest plays a vital role in the employees life. It is not merely a competition but a manifestation of the Board’s commitment in fostering a culture of healthy competition, camaraderie, and overall well-being of its employees.
