Metro Manila – “Kailangan nating ipagmalaki na hindi kailanman matitinag ang NCMB kahit gaano kahirap ang hinaharap,” said Executive Director Maria Teresita Lacsamana-Cancio during her message on the 2023 Year-end Performance Assessment (YEPA) and 2024 Strategic Planning Exercise held on January 4-6, 2024 at Canyon Woods Residential Resort, Batangas.

Though the Board fell short in some of its targets, she still acknowledged and took pride in the accomplishments and progress of the Board as these were achieved through the hard work and unwavering commitment of the officials and employees.

Further, as a way to inspire the officials and employees, ED Cancio mentioned, “Our plant level programs have earned the Secretary’s nod as effective mechanisms in improving worker-employee relationship and in maintaining industrial peace.”

This is a manifestation of the Board’s steadfast commitment in the continued promotion of its three core programs.

Labor and Employment Undersecretary Benedicto Ernesto R. Bitonio, Jr. graced the event and provided valuable inputs and feedback on matters which require policy issuances for program implementation. He encouraged the Board to be more innovative and bold in terms of recalibrating its labor dispute settlement approaches to improve performance and result.

Further, to ensure consistency, decrease ambiguity and guarantee quality of work on the single entry approach program, he stressed that everyone should be familiar and follow the standardized guidelines for said program.

The assessment and planning exercises also centered on the Board’s development plan by reviewing and assessing the accomplishments of the previous year, as well as, identifying the issues and concerns encountered on the three core programs and to determine the root causes of the problem and create viable solutions and measures to address the same.

As the plans and targets were projected for the year ahead, Deputy Executive Director Maria Cristina Mangaliman noted in her closing remarks that the NCMB is now prepared to advance its cause and proactively respond to the needs and welfare of its personnel and the general public.

Concluding the event, ED Cancio added that the Board will not just try to survive but strive to achieve excellence – she anticipates that through this year-end performance assessment and strategic planning activity, the NCMB will gain recognition in all of its initiatives with the support of its employees and the Board’s stakeholders.
