TAE SUNG AND UNION SETTLE NOTICE OF STRIKE CASE IN TWO MEETINGS
Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch IVA announced today the settlement of the Notice of Strike case filed by Tae Sung Employees Association against Tae Sung Phils. over a bargaining deadlock on the economic provisions of the collective bargaining agreement in two conciliation conferences.
On March 16, 2018, the union filed a Notice of Strike alleging bargaining deadlock on the economic provisions for the last two years of their CBA.
In the initial conference conducted on March 23, 2018, both parties confirmed the issues presented by the union. Management representatives, however, were not able to present a counter offer to the 14 issues raised by the union.
“During the initial conference, the union declared their intention to conduct a strike-vote balloting on 04 April 2018,” RCMB IVA Officer-in-Charge Cynthia C. Foncardas said.
“Management representatives, however, urged union to wait for their counter offer,” she added.
On April 06, 2017, parties agreed to amicably settle their disputes as they signed a P 4 million CBA benefitting 150 workers.
The management and union mutually agreed on a Php15.00/ month wage increase effective February 12, 2018.
The CBA provides for a P40.00 OT meal, P700.00 Christmas package, P6,000 loyalty service, P10,000 bereavement assistance and P1,000 signing bonus.
The agreement shall includes an additional one day leave and two days union leave.
Management also agreed to provide safety shoes to covered employees.
Separation pay and time-off for the conduct of grievance meetings were also included in the CBA.
Tae Sung Employees Association, represented by its president Mr. Charlie Piamonte, has a total of 150 members.
Tae Sung Phils., Inc. (TSPI), represented by its President, Young Kwon Kim, is engaged in metal stamping, molding and manufacturing of electrical metal case. It is located in Cavite Express Processing Zone, Rosario, Cavite with approximately 500 employees.
