The National Conciliation and Mediation Board received four (4) positive observations out of the 10 conferred to the Department of Labor and Employment from the recently conducted Annual Surveillance Audit activity on 14-15 June 2023 at Quezon City.
The surveillance audit was conducted by the external certifying auditors from SOCOTEC Certification Philippines. The audit aims to validate the Board’s adherence to ISO 9001:2015 standards in its processes.
The certifying body bestowed highly commendable observations to the Board on the positive practices that have proven to work well and produce good results. These improvements and positive practices have been observed in the following work processes:
- Excellent knowledge on process requirements evidently observed during the audit of Conciliation Mediation Division and Voluntary Arbitration Division
- Effective implementation of established controls resulting to the accuracy of report and timely submission to the Research and Information Division (RID) of statistical data.
- Procurement of SAS Enterprise Guide Software by the RID to help users generate reports on the Alternative Dispute Resolution System.
- Implementation of the practical assessment/exam for Conciliator-Mediator position (i.e. facilitation of the initial conference of an ongoingcase).
While some of the positive observations of the auditors were generalized for all process owners, the same applies to the Board. These include the openness to improve processes and the competence and knowledge of the process owners in the existing standards and procedures of the Board. The swift manner by which documents required were presented to the auditors was also demonstrated during the audit.
Aimed to standardize the Board’s processes, the Board continuously adheres to the effective implementation of ISO 9001:2015 Standards through regular assessment, review and monitoring of its processes.
