The National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) launched the 2023 Twin Search for Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace and Outstanding GM for Industrial Peace at Luxent Hotel, Quezon City on 23 March 2023. The Board has opened once again a venue for LMCs to unveil new and unique ways in maintaining a peaceful and productive work environment and for GMs to discover effective dispute resolution systems.
The activity was attended by distinguished guests from the Department of Labor and Employment and its Bureaus and Attached Agencies, social partners in the promotion of LMC and GM programs, and a total of 148 participants from 54 companies across the country.
NCMB Officer-in-Charge Teresita Audea stressed in her welcome remarks that the Twin Search has been an “effective venue that inspires companies and organizations to appreciate more the value of LMC and GM as platforms of stabilizing and harmonizing human and labor relations.” She declared the commitment of the NCMB, as a partner, to be more innovative in designing new and improved approaches not only to enhance the programs, but also to capacitate the technical personnel to serve both the business and labor sectors.
DOLE Undersecretary Atty. Benedicto Ernesto Bitonio, in his video message, conveyed his appreciation for the presence of the participants and highlighted the optimism and strength the twin Search provides amidst the current economic difficulties that confront labor relations. He underscored the role of the bipartite mechanisms throughout the years in enhancing labor-management relations, cooperation, job satisfaction, quality, profitability and productivity.
“Let us focus our Search on the substantive results of mutual cooperation and partnership as well as of shared responsibility in dispute resolution and prevention,” says Atty. Bitonio.
In his message of support, PHILAMCOP President Teofilo Colocado emphasizes the importance of remedies and strategies to maintain and strengthen the LMC in every workplace.
The criteria for judging and mechanics of the Twin Search were presented by OIC-Director Atty. Kim Marie Aquino and Chief Julie Rodriguez.
To inspire and entice participant companies to join the Search, 2021 Outstanding LMC for Industrial Peace Ampleon Philippines, Inc. and GM Hall of Fame Awardee Carmen Copper Corporation were invited to share their journey in winning the competition. Both presenters showed their winning piece that narrated and exhibited the distinct qualities of their LMC and GM.
To conclude the event, Deputy Executive Director Maria Cristina Mangaliman expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the guests and participants for their consistent support to the programs of the Board and to NCMB personnel for ensuring that the program runs smoothly.
She then took the opportunity to invite companies to join the Search and informed them of the deadline of the submission of entries on 31st of May 2023 and the prizes that await winners.
