DIRECTOR’S CORNER

Maria Teresita D. Lacsamana-Cancio, commonly known as “Admin Tess” or “ED Cancio”, was appointed as the Board’s Executive Director last 28 August 2019. Prior assuming the duties and responsibilities of the highest official of the Board, ED Cancio worked her way from the bottom, serving as an Administrative Officer, Supervising Labor and Employment Officer, Conciliator-Mediator, as well as becoming a Director of the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch III and Central Office’s Internal Services Department, and afterward, as the Deputy Executive Director.

A native Kapampangan, ED Cancio graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Centro Escolar University Mendiola. While working as a Conciliator-Mediator, she pursued post-graduate studies and earned her degree in Masters of Public Administration from Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University with meritissimus. 

In her work, ED Cancio is a skilled conciliator-mediator. She was ranked 6th among Conciliator-Mediators and Directors handling Conciliation-Mediation cases in 2011, and also received recognition of timely, efficient, accurate reporting and coordination of conciliation-mediation of cases during the same period. As an Executive Director, she always receives recognitions and positive comments from the Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III. Aside from conciliation-mediation skills, she is also a skilled resource speaker, event organizer, and host.

ED Cancio never stopped in maintaining industrial peace among the workplace. She still proactively participates in conferences on conciliation-mediation cases, and partakes in seminars/webinars/training relevant to promoting workplace cooperation among companies. As the vanguard of industrial peace, ED Cancio believes that it is the role of the Board to bridge gaps between workers and management and promote labor-management cooperation, to attain harmonious relations in every workplace.
