The notice of strike filed by Peninsula Employees Union NUWHRAIN-IUF-SENTRO against The Peninsula Manila/Hongkong and Shanghai Hotel Ltd., has been settled , NCMB Executive The notice of strike filed by Peninsula Employees Union  NUWHRAIN-IUF-SENTRO against The Peninsula Manila/Hongkong and Shanghai Hotel Ltd., has been settled, NCMB Executive Director Shirley M. Pascual announced recently.

Pascual, citing a report from RCMB-NCR Director Teresita E. Audea, said that the union filed the notice of strike case against the hotel on May 19, 2017 on account of bargaining deadlock.

They agreed to conclude their three (3) year Collective Bargaining Agreement on July 4, 2017, following a series of conciliation-mediation efforts conducted by RCMB-NCR.

“The agreement had shown the willingness of the parties to amicably settle the case. The Union while it can wait for the strike ban to expire after submitting the results of the strike vote referendum on June 14, 2017 chose to continue to negotiate and conclude their CBA with the management,” Pascual added.

The agreement cover among others, rice subsidy, wage increase, and union leave.

The estimated economic package stands at P19.3M covering 380 employees.

According to Director Audea, the parties’ new 3-year CBA commenced on December 16, 2016 and will expire on December 15, 2019.

Pascual commended the effort of Conciliator-Mediator Angelita S. Narvaez in settling the labor dispute, preventing another possible work stoppage.- Rene R. Cañutal & Diadema A. Aguirre
