The complaint of William Filosopo Arcilla for disability benefits based on his employment contract was settled after the issue was submitted to conciliation and mediation on November 28, 2016.

In the Branch’s report to Executive Director Shirley M. Pascual, Arcilla filed a SENA/Request for Assistance (RFA) against his manning agency and Manila Shipmanagement & Manning, Inc. before the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board- National capital region, alleging non-payment of disability benefits.

Conciliator-mediator Cresencia M. Pawingi handled the request. After a series of conferences, Pawingi was able to settle the case on February 9, 2017. With the settlement, Arcilla received P 1,730,750.00.00 as disability benefits.

Arcilla expressed his gratitude to the Branch prompt action to address his grievances. Once again, conciliation-mediation services proved to be fair, fast, non-litigious and economical to both parties.

Pascual commended Pawingi for her efforts in facilitating the settlement of the request.

Arcillas held the position of an electrician on board MV “ST. MYTHOS” until his repatriation to the Philippines sometime March 2016 due to injury.
