National Conciliation and Mediation Board Officer-in-Charge Shirley M. Pascual announced today the settlement of labor dispute involving Pepsi Cola Products Philippines, Inc. And its union.
Citing a report from RCMB-III Director Edgar G. Aquino, pascual said the company and its union, the Pepsi Cola Products Philippines, Inc. – Pampnga Pepsi Cola Employees Union (PPCEU) was amicably settled on January 20, 2016, following the sucessful conciliation efforts of conciliator-mediator Othello B. Tongio, Jr.
The settlement was swiftly facilitated within two days from the date of filing.
Aquino thanked and acknowledged Tongio for providing his assistance to facilitate the prompt resolution of the dispute.
The management and union of Pepsi Cola Products Philippines, Inc. discussed extensively the issues on unfair labor practice (ULP), specifically, cessation of hospital benefits for dependents, temporary upgrading of employees and right to information.
The parties agreed to maintain the existing company practice of extending the hospital benefits to qualified dependents.
They both decided to exhaustively thresh out the issue on temporary upgrading of employees to the grievance mechanism and agreed to notify the union on the initial meeting.
Furthermore, on the issue of right to information, management committed to inform the union 3 days before the implementation of any changes in the company policies or programs including resignation of employees.
Pampanga Pepsi Cola Employees Union (PPCEU) represents 115 regular rank-and-file workers headed by Union President Noel H. Yumul.
Pepsi Cola Products Philippines, Inc. is the exclusive bottler of Pepsi Cola beverages in the Philippines and is represented by Ms. Karen Tapang-Verjes, HR Manager. It is located at Barangay Sindalan, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
