200 EMPLOYEES OF HIGHLAND BANANA CORP ATTEND NCMB PROGRAM ORIENTATION

The Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch XI conducted two plant level orientation seminars at Highland Banana Corporation in Davao City on 28 February 2020 and 6 March 2020 with 106 and 100 participants, respectively.

The orientation seminar focuses on the Board’s programs specifically Labor Management Cooperation, Grievance Machinery and Voluntary Arbitration.
“Highland Banana Corp. aims to inform our employees and make them aware of the programs of the NCMB,” HR Manager Larry Carmen said in his message.
“We have benefitted from our Labor-Management Councils in the company and we would like to continue benefiting from it by keeping our employees well-informed about the NCMB programs,” he added.
The branch facilitated its HBC-Toril’s LMC on 3 December 2014 and has been regularly conducting enhancement seminars since then.
HBC-Toril including other plantations namely Guianga and Sirib, Pangyan and Subasta have no filed labor cases with the branch.
Aside from existing LMCs, the HBC-Toril and its union, Tagluno Highland Labor Union-Associated Labor Union, peacefully concluded their Collective Bargaining Negotiations and signed an agreement last 12 February 2020.
Highland Banana Corp.-Toril, a Tristar Group of Companies, is engaged in banana production and is the exporting arm of the JVA based in Davao. It is headed by Personnel and Administrative Manager Larry Carmen.
