SAN MIGUEL BREWERY, INC.SIGNS NEW CBA WITH SAN FERNANDO BREWERY EMPLOYEES UNION 

The Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch III led by OIC Director Cynthia C. Foncardas witnessed the ceremonial signing of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) of San Miguel Brewery, Inc. (SMBI) with San Fernando Brewery Employees Union (SFBEU) at Fortune Hongkong Seafood Restaurant, Balibago, Angeles City on February 28, 2020. 

The occasion was attended by Mr. Roberto N. Huang and Mr. Michael D. Mangalindan, company and union president, respectively. It was also attended by officials from the Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. 3. 

Mr. Noel F.Nunag provided the welcome message while Mr. Roberto De Leon thanked everyone for finding time to attend the momentous activity. 

Mr. Rod G. Dela Vega, who served as the Chairman of the management panel, conveyed his gratitude to the management, union officers, and members of the negotiating panel for being supportive and flexible during their CBA negotiation. He shared that it took only a few hours for both parties to agree and facilitate the signing of the CBA. 

For his part, Mr. Mangalindan expressed his appreciation to the management and co-workers for the speedy settlement of their negotiation. He also shared his insights on what transpired during the negotiation. He committed to give their full cooperation and support to all the programs that will be implemented by management amidst the imposition of excise tax on alcohol drinks to meet their sales target. 

OIC Director Cynthia C. Foncardas thanked the union and management for inviting the RCMB III. She likewise congratulated them for the successful conclusion of their CBA in a single day meeting. 

She mentioned that the signing of the CBA is the ceremonial way of accepting the mutual responsibility of the parties to comply and administer what is provided in the contract. Any issues, concerns and violations that would arise in the future in the implementation and from the interpretation of the same should be properly addressed at the plant level grievance machinery. 

President Huang thanked the guests for being supportive in all their endeavors especially in ensuring a peaceful and productive working environment. 

He stated his appreciation to the labor and negotiating panel for their collective efforts in achieving a win-win outcome and for maintaining a good working relationship that led to the formal signing of the CBA. 

However, Mr. Huang emphasized that the company will implement a cost cutting measures due to the new excise tax to be imposed by the government. 

Lastly, he appealed for the full cooperation of both parties for a continuous and enhanced productivity, sound labor-management relations, and sustained industrial peace in the company for the preservation and creation of jobs.
