Administrative and technical staff of RCMB-V together with Mr. Joseph Wyne Manjares

Legazpi City—Timely intervention is most crucial when performing first aid and life support,” emphasized by Mr. Joseph Wyne Manjares during the in-house refresher training seminar on First Aid and Basic Life Support held last February 7, 2025 at the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Branch V (RCMB-V) conference room.

The activity was designed to equip RCMB-V staff with the skills to assess potential workplace emergencies and to provide them with essential life-saving techniques, thereby enhancing workplace safety and emergency preparedness.

Manjares, a representative from the Philippine Red Cross Albay-Legazpi City Chapter, shared his expertise on basic life saving skills and engaged the employees in discussions about their past experiences with health emergencies at work.

During the seminar, he emphasized various health emergencies and injuries, such as spine injuries, panic attacks, heart attacks, choking, and more. He thoroughly discussed their causes and symptoms.

Manjares also provided step-by-step demonstrations on managing emergencies, specifically for someone experiencing a heart attack. He instructed attendees on when and how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), demonstrated the proper techniques for applying bandages to various types of injuries or burns, and shared other invaluable information.

Manjares demonstrates the proper method to do cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

In addition to his presentation and demonstrations, Manjares answered some questions from the RCMB-V employees, providing them with valuable insights into effective first aid practices. The employees expressed their gratitude to Manjares for sharing his knowledge and skills, which they can pass on to their families and others.

Investing in first aid training and acquiring new skills whether at work, at home, or in other settings enhances the safety and well-being of everyone involved. It empowers individuals with the knowledge, skills and confidence to save lives and effectively manage the fear or panic that often accompanies emergency situations.

RCMB-V believes that being trained to respond calmly is essential for making a life-saving difference in critical moments, not only in the workplace but in all areas of life.
