Quezon City—The National Conciliation and Mediation Board joined the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in its highly anticipated 2024 Sportsfest Opening Ceremony on October 11, 2024, at the Amoranto Sports Complex in Quezon City.
The key officials and personnel of the Department and its various services, as well as its attached agencies, were present at the opening ceremony.
The event started with a colorful parade featuring the various teams representing the different services and attached agencies of DOLE. The employees wore vibrant uniforms, displaying their colors and banners. The atmosphere was electric as participants cheered and waved flags, filling the venue with energy and excitement.
In his message, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma encouraged everyone to make the event a memorable experience filled with joy and respect for one another. “Let us remember that while we strive for excellence and compete with passion, it’s equally important to prioritize safety and sportsmanship. This sportsfest is about creating a healthy work environment where employees bond and support one another”, he stated.
Following the opening remarks and pledge of sportsmanship, Secretary Laguesma officially opened the 2024 DOLE Sportsfest, signifying the start of the two-month activity that will embody the spirit of sportsmanship and friendly competition. Teams will participate in various events, including basketball, volleyball, and badminton.
Likewise, the ceremony included performances from DOLE personnel showcasing their musical prowess. Competition among team muses was also held, and the Green Team bagged the ‘Best Muse Award.’
The Sportsfest aims to strengthen teamwork and boost employee morale while promoting the importance of health and fitness in everyday life. As the events unfold over the weeks, excitement builds for what promises to be a memorable and inspiring experience for all participants.
The event is expected to run from October to December and will culminate on the 91st Founding Anniversary of the Department.
