Metro Manila – Reaffirming its dedication to transparency and accountability in government expenditure, the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) conducted the Seminar on Laws and Rules on Government Expenditures (LARGE) last 01-05 July 2024. Facilitated by experts from the Commission on Audit (COA), the event brought together the Board’s finance personnel nationwide to learn about the proper and effective public financial management. With the aim to enhance the finance personnel’s understanding of the regulatory frameworks, the activity discussed various topics including the National Budgeting System, Government Procurement Processes, and Proper Disbursement Processes.

Executive Director Maria Teresita D. Lacsamana-Cancio, in her inspirational message, emphasized the importance of the activity and to fully appreciate the significance of understanding government laws and rules on expenditures in relation to the application of such laws to every transaction. All transactions must be aligned with accounting and auditing standards. “Ensuring transparency and accountability in government expenditures is paramount to upholding the public trust and fiscal responsibility,” she said.

The five-day capacity-building activity provided an avenue for the NCMB to achieve greater efficiency in resource allocation, and maintain effective internal controls to reduce errors and operate with the highest level of transparency and accountability. The training demonstrated the Board’s unwavering commitment to responsible financial stewardship to operate in the best interest of the public.
