34 COOPERATIVES ATTEND INDUSTRY-WIDE SEMINAR

Tacloban City – 55 Participants from 34 cooperatives attended the industry-wide seminar for Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) registered cooperatives in Region 8 conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment, National Conciliation and Mediation Board and other DOLE attached agencies at Hotel Rodolfo.

Participants listened to a discussion on productivity tools, the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program, an orientation on the Employees Compensation Program and programs of NCMB.

“For the first time, the workers from the cooperatives listened to topics which would capacitate the managers and workers to operate their respective cooperatives efficiently and effectively, specifically in the area of labor relations,” said CDA director Armonio Paa.

“If they apply their learnings in their respective workplaces, their workplace relations should improve considerably,” he added.

NCMB Executive Director Shirley S. Pascual thanked the CDA for their support to the DOLE programs.

“We appreciate the fact that you took time from your busy schedules to listen to the discussions,” Pascual said.

“The techniques taught in this seminar should make your lives easier” she added.

The seminar was an enriching experience for the participants which was manifested by the active participation of the coop officers during the open forum. Supervising LEO Rico Babalcon expressed the willingness of the DOLE to conduct trainings and other similar updates on labor and wages, plant or coop-based.
