The labor dispute between Agumil Philippines Incorporated and the Agumil Philippines Incorporated Workers Union- NAFLU-KMU concerning CBA deadlock has reached settlement after seeking the assistance of NCMB-CARAGA. The settlement resulted in the conclusion and signing of the CBA at the NCMB CARAGA Office.

The company and the union have been negotiating their CBA since 2018 at the plant level. On 21 July 2019, the union filed a Preventive Mediation Case at RCMB-CARAGA. After the initial conciliation conference or 9 days after filing the case at the branch, the parties were able to hammer out a deal and draw their CBA with the assistance of the NCMB CARAGA Team composed of OIC Director Ma. Theresa M. Francisco and Conciliator – Mediator Rhium Truce C. Salvador. In a report to National Conciliation and Mediation Board Officer-In-Charge Executive Director Maria Teresita L. Cancio, OIC Francisco said the parties put a closure to the PM case on August 1, 2019 with the amicable settlement of the case. The CBA package agreed upon is estimated at P 4.7 million for the 3-year duration of the CBA which took effect on January 1, 2018 until December 31, 2020. Salient features of the agreement include wage increases, rice subsidy and signing bonus of the 55 union members. The parties likewise resolved other issues on non-payment of wages and non-provision of uniforms during the said conciliation conference. “The settlement of the Agumil case is a result of the conciliation-mediation services of the Branch that unfolded in a sound and healthy industrial undertaking,” said OIC Francisco. “The same is also attributed to the parties who not only found ways and means to resolve their differences but were also keen in obtaining unreserved cooperation and goodwill. The Branch was simply made as a constructive channel of peaceful negotiation and industrial quest for mutual benefits”, Francisco added. The company, located at Manat,Trento, Agusan del Norte is engaged in crude palm oil manufacturing. It has 98 employees.
